2023 Shows You Can’t Miss
The last few years have
brought along a great deal of change, but one of the bright spots in these
changes was the development of streaming services and great shows captivating
our attention across genres. In the brand new, the opportunity-filled year of
2023, here are some of the most anticipated shows and renewals that we have to look
forward to this year.
The Last of Us (HBO Max) -
January 15th
This title may be unknown
to many of you, but this show is being produced in the wake of the dominant run
of the narrative-driven game, the Last of Us, and it promises to mirror the
game in heart-wrenching, immersive moments throughout the entire journey. The
plot of a makeshift father-daughter dynamic in an apocalyptic world makes for
plenty of emotion and danger throughout the entire story, and with well-known
talents like Pedro Pascal in the mix, it’s sure to do the game justice in its
poetic storytelling.
Bell Air: Season 2
(Peacock) - February 23rd
This darker-toned reboot
of the iconic 90’s sitcom (The Fresh Prince of Bell Air) surprised new and old
fans alike, tackling hefty issues with grace and impressive acting displays,
and the star-studded young cast is back for another season. The show follows a
charismatic young student managing the maze of self-identity, family dynamics,
love, rivalries, and so much more, and fans have been waiting anxiously for
this can’t miss continuation for months now.
X-Men ‘97 (Disney Plus) -
Expected Fall 2023
Staying in the realm of
the 90’s, one of the most beloved animated shows of the era is coming back in
dramatic fashion. Although no release date has been officially confirmed, the
show is reportedly booked for at least
two seasons, and the iconic theme music coming back should be enough reason to
check out this forgotten gem of a show.
Mandalorian Season 3
(Disney Plus) - March 1
Among the most beloved of
the new era of Star Wars media, Grogu (Baby Yoda) is back for an exciting
return to a galaxy far, far away, and this season may be the most exciting
addition to the series yet. The Bounty Hunter/Protector role expertly managed
by Pedro Pascal has shown incredible character development in previous seasons,
so expect to fall even deeper into the psyche of “Mando” this year. Jon Favreau
is once again the writers' chair for this season, so be ready to be transported
into one of the most fantastical worlds of modern-day Sci-Fi.
